Homewood Ski Patrol

Transfering Patrollers

Homewood Volunteer Ski Patrol welcomes skilled patrollers

who choose to transfer from other patrols.

Why Homewood?

Each ski resort has its own management policies, terrain, and equipment locations. Most patrollers find it best to choose a resort that they like. Those of us who patrol Homewood do so for a variety of reasons, including:

·        For years Homewood has been considered to be a "locals" area where Tahoe area residents can ski in peace and quiet, away from the crowded corporate ski areas. There are rarely lift lines.

·        At some of the larger ski areas, patrollers are assigned to patrol a particular area of the resort, where they may spend an entire season. At Homewood, patrollers can expect to ski the entire mountain, and there are no restrictions regarding the folks the patroller can ski with.

·        Homewood has naturally rugged terrain that includes steeps, gullies, and well-groomed slopes for beginners. The East and North facing runs can keep new powder fresh and light for days, especially in the trees. The South facing slopes often grow moguls, and Quail Face is a favorite for those who like to ski the steeps. Whatever terrain and snow conditions you prefer, Homewood probably has it.

·        Rising from lake-level, and located on the West shore, Homewood offers the best views of Lake Tahoe anywhere.

Requirements

Optional: Participate in our “Ski With A Patroller” (SWAP) program.  Spend the entire day with us from the morning safety meeting, shadowing a patroller all day, and helping with evening sweep.  This is the best way to find out what patrolling at Homewood is like and meet our patrol.
